On Sunday, April 27, C.F. Richards Christian School students from kindergarten through eighth grade participated in the school-wide Social Studies Fair which featured a Living Wax Museum. Each student studied a biography and presented information about the person by dressing in character as a wax sculpture. When the button was pressed at each presentation, the character would “come to life” and share facts and quotes about the given individual.

It was a wonderful afternoon for C.F. Richards’ families and friends to get a glimpse of the students’ project- based learning. This project was multidisciplinary, which included reading, researching, writing, art by creating presentation boards and costumes, and giving speeches. Each classroom had a different focus for the Living Wax Museum. The K-2 classroom took on people of Bible Times, grades 3-5 focused on United States immigrants and Native Americans, and grades 6-8 studied people outside of the United States, as part of their World History class.

Students, families, and visitors also enjoyed a variety of other activities at the Social Studies Fair including scavenger hunts, jeopardy games, outdoor play, and snacks. We are so proud of each student for their hard work and courage to share at the Living Wax Museum! This event is an example of how C.F. Richards Christian school fosters growth through vigorous independent and collaborative learning, which is a key value in our educational program.
